| RICHMOND, Va. A company that helps operate the federal
government's toll-free Medicare hotline will open a government
services call center in Chesterfield County, creating
up to 800 new jobs by the end of the year.
According to the governor's office, Pearson Government
Solutions will spend 5-point-6 (m) million dollars on
a facility at the River's Bend Center in the Chester
area.
The facility will provide support for the 1-800-Medicare
Helpline. Virginia successfully competed against Maryland
and Pennsylvania for the project.
Pearson will hire between 220 and 250 people in the
short-term, adding others during the course of the year
during peak times. The Arlington-based company anticipates
that it will employ 800 people at the facility at its
busiest time.
Pearson employs more than 55-hundred workers worldwide.
